A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a native Putonghua/Mandarin speaking lawyer to develop their career in the Middle East for this major and highly prestigious law firm in the region. Working closely with key partners and senior fee earners, you would be joining this prestigious firm as a senior associate, and will be working on a largely client development role where you will instigate new relationships and leverage off the growing business and investment interests among Chinese commercial entities in the Middle East region, as well as providing key input to fee earners on deals and matters where Chinese clients are involved. Key stakeholders include the firm’s head of China desk, business development team, internal fee earners and clients.
Our client is open to hiring a lawyer with either non-contentious or contentious commercial experience, particularly those from corporate, banking and finance or general commercial litigation backgrounds. With your deep knowledge and understanding of the PRC business community you will be expected to utilise your existing business network in China to find and cultivate relationships with PRC companies wanting to expand their business in the Middle East or Africa region, as well as nurture and enhance client relationships that the firm already has developed. The successful candidate would also be expected to work on some fee earning advisory matters.
To qualify, you should be qualified in the PRC with 5-8 years' post qualified experience working in major commercial law firms in China/Hong Kong with both native level Putonghua and a strong command of written and spoken English. Additional or alternative qualification from the US or a common law jurisdiction could be considered provided that the candidate has had strong exposure to and a good network of mainland Chinese businesses and legal matters.
