Job Description

This key role in this multinational company will be part of a small global legal team and work closely with cross-departments, including Human Resources, and external Counsel on:

-Immigration matters affecting the Company's employees and contractors and ensuring their legal status accords with relevant immigration laws

-Ensure consistent risk management and compliance across regional offices relating to immigration laws in the region

-Work with local Office Immigration Contacts to ensure they are working with the best and most appropriate external advisors to ensure highest levels of compliance and to ensure process efficiency

-Drafting immigration related letters and forms and develop or improve upon existing template letter provisions, as the need arises

-Liaising with relevant immigration government agencies

-Monitoring and researching material changes to the legal and/or enforcement environments relating to immigration laws in Asia Pacific countries and providing timely updates and policies to stakeholders

-Developing training materials and delivering training to stakeholders (e.g., Office Immigration Contacts, HR, Recruiting, Professional Development/Staffing, and others) on managing immigration risks and processes effectively and efficiently, including e.g. compliance and site visit protocols 

-Handling immigration emergencies (e.g., denial of entry at airport, denial of visa at consulate, rush transfers/project loans, unexpected lapse in employment authorization, or other urgent events).

Assisting with global visa issues and conducting immigration law risk assessments for new office openings, from time to time as need may arise.

Ideal Candidate

  •   Common law qualified with top tier law firm and/or multinational corporation in a role that covers the APAC region
  •   Excellent negotiation skills with fluent spoken and written English languages
